About AUArts SA

About AUArts SA

The AUArts Students Association was formed in 1985 with Suzanne Agopsowicz as ACASA’s first President – a key fighter for student autonomy. While we’ve gone through a few name changes since (ACADSA in 1995, AUArts SA in 2019), we’ve continued being a voice and resource for AUArts students for over 35 years.

We provide various services and programming to the AUArts student body, with our largest programming event being our public-facing Show + Sale. We host year-round student programming in our permanent gallery space the Marion Nicoll Gallery.

The Students’ Association leadership is composed of an elected Student Leadership Council and an Executive Committee, as well as part- and full-time staff members. Our semiannual elections ensure that the voices of the student body remain representative, and fresh.

Governance☑

A large component AUArts SA is is student-led governance. Our governance is comprised of two student-elected bodies - the Executive Committee (EC) and the Student Leadership Council (SLC).

The EC and SLC are fully populated by AUArts Students, and their role is to advocate for the AUArts student body and bring relevant issues to the attention of AUArts administration. They also make decisions via vote on AUArts SA policies, programming, and services.
