Post Content: The Illingworth Kerr Gallery is currently looking for reliable, organized, and enthusiastic students of AUArts who are looking to gain professional gallery and administrative experience.
The Opportunity
Student Gallery Attendants invigilate gallery spaces and visitors during exhibitions. They greet gallery visitors, provide information, orientation and direction to visitors. They provide security to works on display and perform clerical tasks as required.
Tasks and duties may include:
- Open and/or close the gallery
- Operate equipment specific to the gallery
- Complete regular gallery condition reports as scheduled, track attendance and administer visitor surveys.
- Be knowledgeable on the exhibition, works and artist(s), provide orientation on the exhibition and gallery tours if requested.
- Greet visitors, answer or direct visitor inquiries
- Ensure visitors follow gallery rules and etiquette with respect to touching works, food and drink.
- Report to Security immediately any unsafe conditions or incidents that place visitors, the gallery or the exhibition works at risk.
- Assist with event preparation, and other gallery clerical duties such as completing forms and stuffing envelops.
The successful candidates will have:
-Knowledge of AUArts campus and facilities and services
- Functional knowledge of basic gallery preparatory skills and artwork handling
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for contemporary art and galleries
-Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent customer service skills
