Post Content: The Beltline Neighbourhoods Association is recruiting youth for four exciting summer positions as part of our 2021 BUMP Festival team for work between May 17 and September 17, 2021. Weโ€™re seeking ambitious, outgoing and talented youth to help organize our 2021 BUMP Festival in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

BUMP Mural Coordinator
Number of Positions: 2 
Hours Per Week: 16 - 40 
Period: May 17 - September 17, 2021
Pay: $20/hour

Description:

The successful candidates will join our fast paced, team environment to collaborate and deliver an exceptional BUMP Festival. Mural Coordinators will provide support to artists, additional stakeholders and staff to develop murals and festival programming as indicated by the Executive Director. 

The Beltline Urban Murals Project (BUMP) is a community driven initiative transforming the centre of Calgary, Alberta, Canada into an expansive open-air art gallery since 2017. The 2021 BUMP Festival runs from August 1 - 28, 2021.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Facilitate contracts and high level design concepts with artists and building owners
- Create and execute schedule of mural painting
- Book and assign crews for wall prep, lifts/scaffolding, including maintenance and any other site requirements
- Track mural progress, managing all issues as they arise
- Host and support artists participating in BUMP festival, acting as an ambassador for BUMP and Calgary
- Assist marketing and creative teams on internal and external communications 
- Lead and direct volunteers as necessary 
- Build BUMPโ€™s network of relationships with artists, industry and public through events and outreach
- Contribute to BUMPโ€™s overall strategies as an enthusiastic, collaborative and supportive team member
- Participate as a team member by taking on administrative and logistical tasks to ensure delivery of seamless service

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES

- Experience working in visual arts, logistics management and administration
- Exceptionally strong communication, organization and problem solving skills 
- Passionate about bringing visual arts into the community
- Handles challenges and complexities with grace and positivity
- Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines and effectively manage priorities 
- Remote work at event and mural sites is required. Personal transportation is an asset 

Outcomes for youth will be increased experience and awareness in working with visual arts and public art creation, building relationships with project stakeholders, and practical experience working as part of a team in creating community and cultural experiences in Calgary. Developing skills in receiving and interpreting feedback, mentorship, coordinating amongst a team, and communication. Goals for staff will be outlined with team leaders at the beginning of the contract and monitored throughout.
