Flying Fish is seeking an experienced photographer/videographer to capture the premiere installation of our new touring exhibition, Stardust: The Universe in You, at a science centre in Edmonton.

Project Overview:
Capture a wide range of high-quality photos and videos of Stardust: The Universe in You for marketing, social media, press, and future promotions. Deliverables will include both polished and raw assets to ensure long-term usability.

May 30, 2025

Shoot Time:
12:00 PM – 4:00 PM The exhibition will be closed to the public during this time.

Installation Shots & Visitor Interaction Shots:
Both will be captured during the dedicated 12:00 – 4:00 PM window. This includes shots of the empty exhibition space, specific interactives, multimedia elements, and staged visitor interactions showcasing the interactives and multimedia experiences.

Deliverables:
Photography:
20-30 high-resolution, professionally edited photos.
Focus on the exhibition with no visitors (capturing the gallery as a whole, specific interactives, and multimedia elements) and visitors interacting with the exhibition, including hands-on interactives and multimedia experiences.
All additional unedited photos captured during the shoot for future use.

Videography:
1-2 minute professionally edited highlight video of the exhibition.
3-4 short social media clips (15-60 seconds each), formatted for Instagram/Facebook/TikTok use (vertical and horizontal aspect ratios).
Raw video footage of key exhibits, visitor interactions, and additional unedited footage captured during the shoot for future editing flexibility.

Requirements:
Professional-grade equipment capable of low-light museum photography/videography.
Previous experience with museum, exhibition, or similar event photography/videography (portfolio required).
Comfortable working in a live environment and coordinating with public visitors and staff.
Ability to capture footage without interfering with visitor experience.
Flexibility to adjust based on exhibition lighting and flow.
Willingness to sign a standard work-for-hire agreement (all rights to photos/videos assigned to Flying Fish).
Available specifically from 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM on May 30, 2025.

Budget:
$700-800 CAD (negotiable based on experience and scope).

Additional Guidance:
A virtual meeting with Flying Fish's marketing team will occur in April, before the shoot, where shot list guidance will be provided, highlighting exhibition elements to prioritize. Also, a short pre-shoot briefing with Flying Fish's Head of Marketing will occur on-site before shooting begins to ensure alignment on specific shots, etc.
