Call for Submissions: Hear/d Residency
Submissions for the upcoming hear/d residency are now open for all AUArts students of any year or major!
Apply through our online form. Deadline to apply is September 26th.
The Dates:
This year’s residency will run from early October 2022 - early April 2023.
About the Residency:
The hear/d residency is a six-month artist residency that asks students to create work centered around the theme of healing and recovery as it relates to mental health. We invite participants to collaborate on researching, developing, creating, and curating an exhibition that allows our community to safely explore these themes, while offering hands-on experiences that directly relate to the fields of art, craft, creative research, and design.
We foster self-advocacy and resilience-building while developing a visual language that de-stigmatizes mental health conversations.
The Perks:
This is a great opportunity to see what it’s like to be a part of a collaborative exhibition that creates real impact in our community. We pride ourselves in facilitating communities of care where supportive relationships translate beyond of the residency.
The hear/d residency will culminate in an exhibition on campus where the participating students will have the opportunity to network and share their work with the larger public.
Alongside workshops, mentorship and curatorial feedback, we provide students a chance to explore possible career paths while enhancing their resume and CV. Each participant is provided with an honorarium to support the time, resources, and materials required to participate in the program.
In addition, hear/d residency participants have the opportunity to participate in an annual collaboration with Exposure Festival that offers access to international audiences.
