Post Content: Arts and Heritage St. Albert is looking for energetic, creative and organized arts instructors to teach a variety of arts programs. Arts Instructors support artistic achievement and visual culture in St. Albert and surrounding area, by providing inspiring, engaging and hands-on educational art programs for the community. Supports the mission of the Arts and Heritage Foundation – offering exceptional arts and heritage experiences in the community
Duties include: • Preparation and delivery of art programs for community, school and homeschool groups. Programs take place at Art Gallery of St. Albert, local schools or in the St. Albert Place Visual Art Studios • Prepare, organize and maintain program equipment and supplies • Assist and engage students of all ages in arts-based programming • Ensure proper health and safety procedures are followed • Provide excellent customer service to all participants Ideal candidates possess: • Passionate artist with experience in a variety of art-making techniques and mediums • Experience instructing children, youth or adults in group settings • Passion for working with children and ability to interact and engage with participants of all ages • Studio experience with various media (painting, print-making, drawing) • Experience with clay (wedging/hand-building) • Effective classroom management skills for diverse groups and age levels • Excellent communication skills • Familiar with programs such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Eventbrite • Proactive, flexible and positive approach to all aspects of the job • Reliable and dependable team player • Ability to lift 40 lbs and handle heavy art material totes and supplies • Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle for occasional outreach travel • Fluent in a second language Assets • Advanced clay skills such as throwing and glazing Required prior to employment commencement • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certificate • RCMP criminal records check and a vulnerable sector check • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
Work schedule and salary: • These are contract positions with flexible part time hours dependent on program bookings and registration. • Actual work schedules are provided monthly and working hours are based on registrations received. • Required hours are flexible and program dependent and may include evenings and weekends • Rate of pay ranges from $27 - $35 per hour and is based on qualification and experience.
