Who we are
RMV Publications has been publishing magazines for almost 45 years. We provide travellers with timely information and local insights. Our products include WHERE Canadian Rockies, WHERE Calgary, The Dining Guide, Mountain Real Estate, regional maps, and various websites and social media accounts.

Why work for us
We take pride in publishing intern work across various products, both in print and online, so you can build your portfolio during a paid internship. Building and maintaining our freelancer base often starts with having interns who move on to do great things. Working for us will provide opportunities for you to be creative, to explore your craft, and to have your work published. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we’re always looking to bring fresh voices and perspectives to our products.

Responsibilities
As an intern, your tasks will vary from day to day, depending on our press schedule. You can expect to assist the Art Director in branding, sales, and marketing materials for clients, primarily in the tourism industry. This could include corporate brochures, posters, signage, pop-up stands, logos, etc. You may be asked to build and revise ads for magazines or online, provide editorial design for magazine articles, source photography for magazine and online articles (both print and web quality), help produce internal sales and marketing material, collaborate with team members to launch projects, work on the production and proofing of magazines before press, and build, update, revise, and create maps. You might also assist in the creation of digital design work, including display banners, website mock-ups, and infographics. We understand this is an entry level position, so training and guidance is available for all of these tasks, as well as anything else that might come up during the internship.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
• Is a student or recent graduate (within 3 years) from a graphic design or related degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Loves to create. Whether it’s designing your own work or assisting someone else’s, we’re looking for someone who loves design, has the technical skills, and wants to share that passion with the world.
• Wants to be published. We take pride in publishing our intern’s work, and we’re looking for someone who wants that opportunity.
• Is comfortable with our software. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable using Adobe creative programs. We also use Microsoft Outlook and Teams for communication, as well as various digital platforms. We will provide guidance with these and any other programs we ask you to use.
• Can work with a team. We have a tight team that works together to solve problems and create high quality work. We want you to feel confident being a member of this team and sharing your creative ideas.

Assets
While you don’t need to have these skills, it would be considered a bonus if you have experience in the design, communications, or publication industries, photography skills, understanding of SEO and analytics, a understanding of GIS and mapping software (specifically MAPublisher), and any experience in the tourism industry, either in Calgary or in the Canadian Rockies.

Payment
This internship pays $20/hr. We are ideally looking for someone full time, but would consider part time for the right candidate. While our office is based in Canmore, we are open to discussing a hybrid work model.

How to Apply
Please send a resume, cover letter, and a portfolio to our Art Director, Damian Lamartine, at damian@rmvpublications.com. Please have “Graphic Designer” in the subject line. While we thank all applicants for their interest, only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
