Photo Doc Services Team (March 2023)
Summary:
Are you a NON-GRADUATING 3rd/4th year Photography major looking for an industry-standard paid opportunity that will help you build your portfolio and connect you with the AUArts community? Then show off your skills at the Students’ Association (SA) sponsored Photo Doc Days (PPD), happening March 17-19, 2023.
We are looking for a core team of two photographers and two editors to join us for Photo Doc Days, which is our subsidized photo documentation service at the Marion Nicholl Gallery. PDD primarily supports students in the Show + Sale program to provide high quality images of artwork for commercial sale but also services the entire student body for anyone looking to document artwork for scholarships, grants, residencies, and more. With SA sponsorship, we can pay our photographers industry-standard rates for their time while giving students financially accessible services between $2-$5. Participating students will be expected to credit the photographer when using their photos.
Most images will be shot in a “Background to White” style, which is introduced in 400lvl Photo courses. Due to the technical difficulty of this style of product photography, we will be providing an unpaid training session for our team from an experienced photographer. Lighting and background equipment will be generously provided by the Photo Technician. Both photographers and editors have a crucial role to play during PDD and will learn how to undertake a large assembly line shooting project and edit for consistency on a short turnaround time. As such, applicants should be available all three days with a potential for overtime.
- The two Photographers will be given $300/8 hour shooting day each ($900 honoraria for PDD)
- The two Editors will be given $300/8 hour editing period each ($900 honoraria for PDD)
General Responsibilities:
- Work as a team to provide 255 “background to white” 2D, 3D, and wearable artwork documentation for S+S Artists and AUArts students
- “Background to white” experience is an asset, but we will train!
- Photographers will also be responsible for providing staff and Artist headshots during one of the shoot dates
- Deliver images to the S+S team and respective Artists with a tight turnaround
- Additional hours to be determined based on student demand
- Provide industry standard JPG files to both the SA programming team and the Artists in a timely manner
- Attend onboarding, briefing, and debriefing meetings as a team to prepare
Qualifications:
· Have own camera, lenses, computer, and Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
· Experience with studio, portrait, and/or environmental photography
· Photographers must have access to and training with AUArts photo equipment

· Have excellent editing and file management workflows
· Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to situations
