Post Content: The Crowsnest Pass Allied Arts Association is a vibrant non-profit organization (operated by a volunteer board of directors) comprising artists and members of the public at large, and two paid positions: a part time curator and a part time administrative assistant. Both positions report to the president of the board. Our mission is to provide and promote education in the arts for all people. We seek to serve the community, with special emphasis on bringing the arts in their many forms into people’s lives and to use art as a tool to support and enhance community wellbeing.
Details of the Position:
1. First point of contact with the public in the gallery/gift shop, maintaining a welcoming and accepting atmosphere to all.
2. To curate, install and schedule exhibitions for the gallery that spark discussion and consciousness of all forms of creative expression.
3. Develop, schedule and promote art educational programs and workshops for adults and children.
4. Create and distribute promotional materials.
5. Research and develop financial support from potential sources.
6. Write and manage available grants to further the gallery’s operations.
7. Liaise and maintain relationships with local community groups, other galleries in the province, and appropriate government offices.
8. Seek and participate in diverse fundraising events at the gallery.
9. Curate gift shop including enhancing artist relations.
10. Hire and mentor summer student employee.
Qualifications for the Position:
An undergraduate degree in a related field of study is preferred as is previous experience in a gallery. Creative thinking to produce new ideas, excellent communication skills and understanding of the role of arts in the community. Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity. An ability to work both independently and in a team setting. Familiarization of various media, proficiency in graphics software, Word and Excel.
Further Details of the Position:
This is currently a part-time position of 20 hours per week with an hourly wage at $30.00/hr and requires a flexible schedule. We offer two weeks annual vacation days per year in coordination with other staff.
