Position Summary:
The Canadian Angus Association (CAA) is hiring a Video Technician for a term position. The individual will film, edit and publish marketing videos to promote both CAA and Canadian Angus Foundation (CAF) programs and services and educational videos to assist members understand how programs work and how to submit work for processing. In addition, the individual will help bring the archives to life continuing work previously done to create a living history to showcase the archives, preserve stories and anecdotes, and encourage people to support the Foundation.

While video production will be the individual’s main responsibility, depending on his/her skills and interests, (s)he will have other opportunities to assist with CAA and CAF projects including but not limited to photography, writing marketing copy for brochures, social media, websites and video scripts, graphic design, and other marketing and communications tasks. (S)he will also assist with scanning and filing documents to contribute to CAA’s transition to a largely paperless office and (s)he may also be asked to assist with data entry an database cleanup.

This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program which requires that applicants be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment; be a Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and be legally entitled to work according to Alberta legislation and regulations.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Film, edit and publish marketing videos to promote Canadian Angus Association programs and services.
 Film, edit and publish educational videos for Canadian Angus Association members.
 Develop living history videos to showcase the Canadian Angus Foundation archives.
 Assist with video production for Angus Broadcasting Canada.

Secondary Responsibilities:
 Depending on the individual’s skills, they may also write content for the CAA website, social media platforms and Angus Life, the annual publication.
 Support the planning and coordination of events and activities, including: Angus Extravaganza, Showdown, and Building the Legacy. This may include video and photography support as well as in-person attendance.
 Sourcing and purchasing branded merchandise for the Association to sell.
 Other promotional and office tasks depending on Association needs.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
 Proven ability to develop videos (samples will be required if selected for an interview)
 Ability to multi-task and set and achieve measurable targets and objectives.
 Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
 Be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
 Experience in the cattle industry is an asset but is not required.
 Ability to speak, read and write in French would be an asset.
 CAA uses InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Rush. The individual will have access to Adobe Creative Suite.

Working Conditions:
Work is based at Angus Central, the Canadian Angus Association’s national headquarters. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. with a lunch break from 11:30–12:30. The work term can begin as early as July 7 and must end by February 26, 2022. The job must be completed on site at Angus Central; remote work is not possible. Appropriate social distancing measures are in place in accordance with Alberta Health requirements.

$17.00 per hour
