Social Media Assistant 

AUArts SA is looking for a Social Media Assistant to help our Communications team manage our social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This individual will work closely with the Communications team to schedule, produce, and post strategic brand content, and will be responsible for the day-to-day social media needs of the Association. This role will require the individual to attend AUArts SA events on campus and at partner venues in Calgary to create engaging social media content. 

  • Employment Type: Part-time, Hourly Wage (approx. 12 hours per week) 

  • Contract Length: August 2022 – May 2023 

  • Hourly Pay Range: $15 - $18 per hour depending on experience 

  • Adaptable schedule with option for remote work 

  • Reports to Communications Coordinator 

Core Objectives 

  • Attend AUArts SA events on campus and at partner venues to engage with our audiences on our social media platforms (e.g., sharing stories, streaming live feeds, answering questions from audience members) 

  • Create dynamic written, graphic, and video content within social media platforms 

  • Adapt social media content for various social media feeds 

  • Use timelines and scheduled content to create a consistent stream of new content throughout the academic year 

  • Support the Communications team in social media campaigns to promote AUArts SA programming, events, and membership services/resources 

  • Maintain our various social media platforms by checking for updates, engaging with audience members, and redirecting general inquiries among other social media related tasks.

Qualifications and Skills 

  • Previous experience in social media marketing, visual communications, and/or related field 

  • Outgoing, friendly personality with strong verbal and written communication 

  • Team player with ability to give and receive feedback, implement team strategies, and work with minimal supervision during events 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills 

  • Assets:  

    • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite  

    • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Sharepoint
