Job Type: Part-Time (7 hours weekly)
Location: Art Gallery of St. Albert, St. Albert, AB
Workdays: Saturdays 9:15 am–5:15 pm, may include occasional evenings and weekdays
Wage: $25.61–$27.18 per hour
Art Gallery of St. Albert, with the Arts and Heritage Foundation of St. Albert, has a part-time opportunity available for an enthusiastic and creative individual interested in the arts. The Gallery Assistant supports artistic achievement and visual culture in St. Albert and the area by supporting gallery events, exhibitions and programs. Supports the mission of the Arts and Heritage Foundation – offering exceptional arts and heritage experiences in the community.

Duties include:
• Supervision of exhibitions or front desk, welcoming visitors to the Gallery, providing exhibition interpretation and responding to inquiries from the public
• Assist in Saturday operation of the Gallery, including selling Gallery Shop merchandise, assisting with program registration and project pick-ups, answering the phone and maintaining the cleanliness of shop and exhibition areas
• Support the Visual Arts Programmer in the preparation and delivery of in-gallery art programs and drop-in art activities for children, youth, adults and seniors
• Assist with Gallery program development and material preparation
• Assist with exhibition opening receptions, venue rentals and special events
• Assist in welcoming the public for events such as International Children’s Festival, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Alberta Culture Days and Snowflake Festival
• Provide basic administrative and clerical support to the Gallery and staff, including data entry and inventory management

Ideal candidates profile:
• Passion for the arts and creative background in a variety of art media
• Interest, education or experience in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, Visual Arts Education or Arts and Cultural Management
• Interest in working with the public and assisting with art activities
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with learning new technologies and software
• Flexible team player who can work collaboratively
• Love for local, provincial, traditional and contemporary arts and crafts
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills
• Current Standard First Aid/CPR certificate beneficial
• ProServe certification or additional languages an asset
