The Design and Marketing Coordinator position presents an exciting opportunity to amplify the voice and inspire engagement with our greater community for the Canadian Angus Association. (S)He will have a solid understanding of marketing, communications, print and digital design, be able to navigate through a variety of digital platforms, and effectively convey our brand and offerings. (S)He will create compelling content and leverage opportunities to tell Canadian Angus stories. (S)He is able to drive interest and engagement through the production of content and management of CAA brand, helping to ensure continued success of the Canadian Angus Association throughout Canada and globally. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Graphic Design
o Support the Canadian Angus Association in all its marketing and design efforts, including acting as the lead designer and creative director for the annual publication Angus Life, creating brochures and other materials for annual events such as National Convention, developing new logos, and curating all digital content for social media, the Canadian Angus Association website, and industry partners.
o Develop strong branding through visual consistency and coordination with all CAA departments.
o Support efforts to expand the reach of the Canadian Angus Association, Canadian Angus Foundation and Canadian Junior Angus through both print and digital publications/mediums.
o Videography and photography experience considered an asset.
• Social Media
o Serve as the primary social media manager responsible for all of the CAA’s platforms, which include: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
o Develop original content for all platforms and customize as needed based on target audience.
o Monitor all platforms daily and serve as primary contact during events.
o Be able to produce, read, and present analytics for all platforms. 
• Website
o Help manage the CAA’s website, including performing text edits, image updates, and basic layout adjustments (training will be provided). 
o Experience with HTML code considered an asset. 
• Events
o Support the planning and coordination of events and activities, including: National Convention, Showdown, and GOAL. This may include graphic design support as well as in-person attendance in the capacity of photographer or Association representation.
o Promote and occasionally represent the Association through participation at conferences, formal functions, industry meetings and events.
• Other Duties
o Pursue sponsorships on behalf of the CAA, both cash and in-kind.
o Sourcing and purchasing branded merchandise for the Association to sell.
o Conduct interviews and write articles for print publications.
o Write original content for both online and print media.

Qualifications Include:
• Experience in the Adobe Suite of programs, including but not limited to: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Rush (Premier Pro considered an asset)
• Ability to multi-task, set and achieve measurable targets and objectives
• Experience with social media management and a good understanding of the aforementioned social platforms
• Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing methods
• Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Strong interpersonal skills—able to engage in productive one-on-one interactions and group discussions equally
• Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
• A team player, with the ability to work both independently and collectively
• Must have a university degree or college diploma in Graphic Design, Marketing or Communications, or 2-5 years’ relevant work experience
• Must have a valid driver’s license, with no prior vehicle impairments or convictions
• Position will require a flexible schedule that includes occasional travel. Successful candidate must be able to coordinate their own travel logistics, including air travel, as needed
The following additional skills would be considered an asset:
• A focus on Graphic Design, Marketing or Communications within an agriculture-related program
• Videography and photography skills/experience
• Project Management experience
• Public Relations experience
• Website management experience

COVID-19 Adjustments/Travel:
The employee must be able to travel occasionally, with some overnight, evening and weekend work possible.
• Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, our methods of work have changed. We will continue to adjust policies as the situation changes.
• Occasional national and international travel may be required once travel restrictions are lifted.
• Occasional meetings with external partners will be scheduled as needed, including offsite meetings and meetings hosted in-office.

To perform this job successfully, the physical demands listed are representative of those that must be met by an employee. Working Conditions:
Canadian Angus Association is based at Angus Central, the national Canadian Angus headquarters located north of Calgary in Rocky View County, Alberta. Regular hours of work are Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. The Design and Marketing Coordinator has the flexibility of working remotely at times. Weekend and evening work as well as regular overnight or extended periods of travel will be required from time to time.
