Exhibit Designer

Summary

The Designer will work directly with clients, salespeople, production and project coordinator to deliver creative modular and custom exhibit design solutions based on client criteria. The Designers work will include graphic design solutions, as well as sketching, 3D modeling/rendering, and detailing of designs for pricing and presentation. The Designer will use design research, graphic design tools, and environmental design to create work of basic to moderate complexity. Additionally, the Exhibits Designer is a multi-faceted creative partner involved in a variety of other non-exhibit design projects throughout the company.

Key Managerial Responsibilities

● Work directly with the Senior Exhibits Designer, Sales Account Managers, Project Coordinator and Production in the planning and execution of design-related activities
● Work collaboratively in project teams and meet all deadlines and objectives
● Schedule regular meetings with other back end departments (Production, Warehouse/Fabrication) to ensure anticipated project flow is recognized by all

Primary Work Activities
● Liaise with clients to discuss the project (themes, ideas or products to be promoted)
● Discuss the project brief and design concepts with the design team, finalizing proposals and presenting these to sales and or clients
● Develop a genuine understanding of the client's brand, products, needs and objectives, as well as the motivations behind customers' buying decisions
● Do a variety of design work for different displays, signs and marketing materials 
● Solve creative issues in a timely manner and to update the overall department project schedule regularly;
● Create initial design sketches and computer-generated three-dimensional visuals, sometimes building models and prototypes
● Organize and maintain digital archives of all design projects
● Create Purchase Orders (POs) for design fabrication orders
● Liaise with the project coordinator to ensure the project is within budget, on schedule and meets the client's requirements;
● Attend exhibition sites and shows to investigate competition and trends
● Attend creative seminars/workshops to keep up with the latest design trends and techniques

Skills required:
● Strong attention to detail
● Experience as a Graphic Designer
● Proficiency in Adobe CC Photoshop and Illustrator
● Experience with 3D modelling software considered a strong asset 
● Experience with VectorWorks considered a strong asset
● Exceptional design and spatial sense to create unique 3D environments and experiences
● Ability to sketch and convey concepts for original environment designs
● Capable of understanding client goals and meeting all client specifications in design solutions
● Excellent communication and presentation skills
● Exceptional time-management skills and attention to detail
● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, timeline-driven workspace
● Ability to work in a team oriented and collaborative environnament
● Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks within required timelines
● Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization


Minimum Education/Experience:
● Two or four-year degree in graphic design, exhibit design, Interior design or industrial design or related design degree
● Minimum one year experience in an environmental design 
● Basic level experience with Adobe Suite.
● Basic level experience with 3D software for modeling, texturing and rendering exhibits
● Basic familiarity with graphic production.
