The Change Leaders project is designed to engage immigrant female youth aged 15 to 30 years old. We support them with micro-grants to launch short-term service projects on topics they care about, such as:
Mental health
Reconciliation
Building an inclusive Canada
Environmental preservation
Promoting civic and democratic engagement
Strengthening youth resilience
Through this project, CIWA equips the participants (project leaders and volunteers) with the knowledge, skills, and mentorship to successfully plan and execute their community-based projects.
What You’ll Learn:
Project Management: Gain hands-on experience in planning, organizing, and managing community initiatives that address important youth issues. You’ll learn how to design a project from start to finish, set realistic goals, create timelines, and manage resources effectively.
Public Speaking: Build confidence in delivering powerful messages and improve your communication skills for effective outreach. This skill will help you engage with diverse audiences, present your ideas clearly, and inspire others to take action.
Collaboration: Strengthen your teamwork abilities by working alongside volunteers in schools and community settings. You’ll learn how to coordinate with others, delegate tasks, and create a positive, inclusive environment for everyone involved in your project.
Additional Benefits
Activities are scheduled during lunchtime and after school, with transportation and counseling support available. Additionally, participants will have access to community resources and assistance for planning a symposium.
Who Can Join:
This program is available for all immigrant and racialized youth 15-30 years of age.
