Our Organization:

The Alberta Securities Commission is the industry-funded regulator responsible for administering the province's securities laws. It is entrusted with fostering a fair and efficient capital market in Alberta and with protecting investors. As a member of the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA), the ASC works to improve, coordinate and harmonize the regulation of Canada's capital markets.

The Communications and Investor Education Division provides strategic communications counsel and support to all areas of the ASC to engage and educate internal and external stakeholders. The team promotes consistent, relevant and timely communication through internal communications, earned and social media, investor education activities and industry communications and education.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Communications & Investor Education, and working with all members of the Communications & Investor Education team, this role builds and maintains the overall brand and professional representation of the ASC through all communication tools, channels and materials. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the ASC’s brand expression and design of Communications & Investor Education materials and resources. 
• Overseeing day-to-day maintenance and enhancements to the ASC’s external websites and social media channels.
• Working collaboratively with other ASC teams and Divisions to ensure our websites are dynamic, relevant, current and accurate. 
• Working collaboratively with creative and digital partners, maintaining and strengthening relationships and effectively and efficiently completing projects on time and on budget.
• Working collaboratively with other Communications & Investor Education colleagues to project manage projects that enhance all communications initiatives. 
• Writing and editing website and social media content.
• Representing the ASC and CheckFirst externally at conferences and other public activations.
• Supporting internal and external communications and investor education team priorities as required.
The ideal candidate will possess:
• A minimum of five to eight years of directly related experience with a bachelor’s degree or diploma in communications, public relations or related field. 
• Proficiency with Adobe design programs (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator). 
• Proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Website content management knowledge and skills, plus basic HTML knowledge. Wordpress, Sharepoint Online, and Sitecore knowledge and experience would be an asset. 
• Project management experience. Experience working with external creative partners would be an asset. 
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization and a strong customer service focus when dealing with internal and external stakeholders. 
• A desire for learning and continuous improvement both personally and organizationally.
