Post Content: Black Sheep (White Light) is an Architect-founded interior decor and design company that specializes in select natural design products from around the world. We currently exist as an on-line only retailer serving direct customers and wholesaling to ‘bricks and mortar’ shops across North America.
We are seeking a design conscious, self-motivated, detail-oriented staff member to handle stock receipt, order fulfillment, photography of new stock, and general up-keep of our Bowness Road NW studio. Opportunity exists for the right candidate to expand their role into social media management, art direction, and product design.
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS - the right person is:
● Available to work Monday, Wednesday, Friday as required by order volume. Hours are flexible to suit school and life schedules.. An estimate of 20 hours per week would be required to start, this may increase/decrease depending on sales volume.
● More hours may be required for product photography, etc.
INITIAL DUTIES – The position at BLACK SHEEP (WHITE LIGHT) includes the following:
● Packing orders
● Interfacing with Etsy, Shopify,Faire, and UPS platforms for order fulfilment and shipping documentation creation
● Receiving new stock shipments (requires physical strength to lift packages in 50-70lbs range)
● Dropping-off packages at UPS Store down the block for collection
● Inventory management: checking and adjusting product inventory and packing supplies as needed
● Maintaining a clean and tidy stockroom
● Follow protocol to ensure product is live on Shopify, Etsy, Faire platforms
● Photographing and editing new product shipments to be listed on online platforms
● Thorough communication through Google Teams with management
POTENTIAL DUTIES – The position at BLACK SHEEP (WHITE LIGHT) may be expanded to include the following:
● Art-direction of photography for new campaigns
● Social media management (Instagram, etc.) to increase customer engagement
● Product sourcing and design development
SKILLS NEEDED – Key skills needed:
● Excellent self-motivation as you will be working with limited supervision most times
● Attention to detail and protocol for order packaging/fulfillment
● Previous experience with Shopify, Etsy, etc. is an asset
● Knowledge of Product Photography and related editing software is an asset
● Strong written and oral communication skills
● Previous retail experience is a bonus
● Problem solving and a pro-active disposition are asset
TRAINING – On the job training will be provided by our current manager (an Alberta University of the Arts graduate), and remotely by the owner. We do this by:
● Providing one-on-one training for the computer system and on-line marketplace platforms, demonstration of packing and branding protocols, opening and end of shift procedures, etc.
● Facilitating training sessions for new operations and procedures
