Post Content: The LearningCITY Collective is hosting a monthly Career Pathways Live series at our new Open Learning Lab in Bow Valley Square the last Tuesday of each month. This series is open to the public and is a response to research we conducted last year with the Canada West Foundation that found many young Calgarians have a narrow view of the career pathways open to them beyond oil and gas.
The first in the series is Careers in Calgary's Creative Economy. This incorporates a broad range of sectors and occupations relevant to your students, including design, publishing, digital media, performing arts, film & TV, and game design. The event starts with a panel discussion among some of creative economy leaders including:
Käthe Lemon, President, Co-Owner, RedPoint Media Group (Moderator)
Luke Azevedo, Vice President, Creative Industries, Operations & Film Commissioner.
Jill Dewes, Partner & Chief Operating Officer, Daughter Creative
Vieko Franetovic, Head of Engineering, Devolver Digital & Director, Calgary Game Developers Association
Patti Pon, President & CEO, Calgary Arts Development Authority
Alex Sarian, President & CEO, Arts Commons
The panel will be followed by 75 minutes of speed mentoring with 30+ creative economy professionals. Speed mentoring is a fantastic way for emerging professionals to meet and get advice from the professionals shaping the future of our city.
Registration is $10 and includes a drink and light snacks. Students can register by clicking HERE.
If you would like to attend, we have a limited number of partner registrations available. Just reply to this email and I can send you these registration details.
