Award Details: Top three student finalists whose artwork is selected by the Donor will receive a prize award of $2,000 each. Provide 1 to 5 images of your work, and one of the images selected will be sold at the auction. All auction proceeds go to the initiative of your choice.
The winning pieces of art will be displayed in the Calgary office of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP for a period of approximately 2 weeks and will then be put up for auction among members of the firm.
For clarity, if selected, submitted artwork will be sold and cannot be committed to any other use. The proceeds raised from the auction will be directed towards an initiative that supports Indigenous communities/people.
The student finalists whose works are selected by the Donor will be invited to work with the Donor to select the initiative to which the funds will be directed based on an approved shortlist of choices, with the Donor having the final determination of which initiative(s) will benefit from the proceeds of such auction. Examples of such initiatives include organizations dedicated to: (i) AUArts Lodgepole Center for Indigenous student programming, (ii) assisting vulnerable Indigenous women and their children, (iii) providing resources to assist Indigenous peoples navigate the Canadian legal system, (iv) supporting Indigenous arts and culture including Indigenous cultural reconnection, or (v) providing sports programs to Indigenous youth.
The student finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their name, contact information, and business cards (if available) with their chosen artwork, and be given the opportunity, if desired, to speak to their artwork at the commencement of the auction at the Calgary office of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP.
The student finalists will work with the Donor to arrange the shipment or printing of the chosen artwork to the Calgary office in advance of the auction at the Donors expense.
