We at the Creative Aging Calgary Society are so excited to host our first film screening to share with the community of Calgary! We will be showing the documentary screening of "All the Beauty and the Bloodshed" about contemporary artist and activist Nan Golden. This in-person event will take place on Sun, Oct 08, 2023 at Globe Cinema: 617 8 Avenue Southwest, Calgary, AB T2P 1H1. Doors open at 1:30PM, film will begin at 2:30PM, followed by a short panel discussion with Nyssa Brown, founder of Expressive Arts YYC, Alice Lam, Creative Aging Society Vice President and volunteer coordinator for the Pop Art and Senior Art Kit Programs, and Shelby Charlesworth, Creative Aging Society Board member and contemporary artist. FREE event, donations are appreciated but not expected . All proceeds go to funding free art and music programming for seniors in Calgary.
The Creative Aging Calgary Society is a registered charity in the City of Calgary.
About the film: Neon describes the film as, "Directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Laura Poitras, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed is an epic, emotional and interconnected story about internationally renowned artist and activist Nan Goldin told through her slideshows, intimate interviews, ground-breaking photography, and rare footage of her personal fight to hold the Sackler family accountable for the overdose crisis."
