Post Content: Join the Alberta Craft SPOTLIGHT Gallery in Calgary for the opening reception of Daniel Labutes exhibition - Rough Around the Edges.

Daniel Labutes is a maker of unconventional ceramics. He refers to his work as “nearly functional,” a hybrid of pottery designed for every-day use and sculpture that disrupts many of the traditional expectations of functionality. He builds up texture and surface drama through exuberant application of slip and a variety of glazes to create compelling surfaces that entice touch but also repel, engage, yet are grotesque.
