Martina is so incredibly committed to each and every one of her students, whether that be on the topic of an assignment or their well-being. She is simultaneously dedicated to her own practice, as well as her family, which I find to be extremely admirable. I can't think of anyone more deserving than her.
Martina has provided such an amazing experience for me during my final year at AuArts. The one on one help she so happily provides is what I appreciate the most. The effort she puts into each student is evident, and you can tell that she cares about her students and their education by how engaging she is in the studio. Martina is always encouraging, and she keeps the individuality of each students studio practice in mind. I'm grateful that I have had the opportunity to learn from her.
Martina is considerate, thoughtful, kind, and hard-working. She makes the ceramics studios a wonderful place to work.

Sarah Alford
Sarah's friendly and happy energy, made me feel warm whenever I attended class. Her passion for what she teaches made me excited to learn more! Everyone in the class feels her love for teaching. Sarah's genuine personality made the semester so much easier to go though, as post secondary can be very stressful. I also wanted to mention Sarah's fashion is super cute, and the many different earrings she wore to class in a wholesome way, added to my decision to get earrings that I have been wanting since I was little. You are splendid, thank you so much for teaching me!
I have been fortunate to have had many amazing instructors at auarts, perhaps one of my most fortunate moments was getting to have Sarah as my instructor for Art History 400. Sarah has some innate talent to both inspire and cultivate knowledge, and hard work in her classes, and her enthusiasm for her work and her care towards those she interacts with is unbelievable. I was not sure where I was going with my academia for sure, but since learning from Sarah I feel like I could go anywhere if i’m willing to work for it!

From the first day of class she showed interest in getting to know us, especially with her personalised feedback during crits. I greatly appreciate Whitneys knowledge and guidance. She is well desering of this nomination.
Zimra Beiner
Zimra has such an interesting and different approach to the studio. He teaches students to take risks and to get out of their comfort zone, while still allowing them to express themselves independently.
