Update: Hear/d Residency
As the new year begins, we are officially concluding the Hear/d residency programming. While this announcement is made with a heavy heart, the changing needs of our students have prompted a poignant realization: it is time to adapt and grow alongside the evolving needs of our creative community.
Reflecting on the journey of the Hear/d residency, from its modest inception as a pilot-project Artist-in-Residence (AiR) program to the transformative eight-month experience it evolved into, this unique peer-led residency navigated uncharted landscapes, especially during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges of isolation, together we learned, adapted, and grew.
As we bid farewell to the Hear/d residency programming, we enter a new chapter, channeling the energy and wisdom gained into existing programs to foster growth and inclusivity. Our commitment to mental health remains unwavering, and we are determined to reach more students. Funding is being distributed to initiatives such as our campus-wide free breakfast programs, expanding our student-group/gallery/initiatives grants, and organizing additional activities, events, and workshops for all students.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to each mentor, facilitator, resident, and reader who courageously shared their vulnerabilities during the program. Your contributions have been the cornerstone of the residency.
For those eager to possess a tangible piece of this transformative experience, limited physical copies of the most recent catalogue, "inter(connected)," are available. The entire collection is also accessible digitally here.
