The Pearl

We are a brand new group in the school, and our name is the PEARL. This idea came from the Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli's artwork——The Birth of Venus, which implies our group is about art and galleries. Pearl brings a feeling of elegance and shine, as same as what we feel about artworks and artists behind them. Our reason for starting this club is because we realized there are so many talented artists in the school, but their works has not been fully shown to the public. They are the hidden pearls, and our club hopes to provide them opportunities to expose and build up a community that connects those amazing artists.

Our group gathers information about exhibitions or art-related activities inside and outside the campus and delivers the latest message to artists, especially open call opportunities. We help students contact galleries and other showcases, and apply for a group show.

We promote information on ongoing exhibitions in the city to our club members, we organize trips to visit and study. So far, we have been to the Esker Foundation, the New Gallery, the BOWS and the TRUCK. We need to learn how to plan and run a good show, then we will hold a meeting after we come back. In the meeting, we will discuss what we learned, and what should we improve for the next event
