Compensation: $22/hour

Organizational Status: Temporary, part-time

Hours of Work: 16-20 hours per week (minimum 10-12 hours per week Monday to Thursday during the workday)

Supervisor: Healthy Campus Alberta Coordinator

Term of Position: September 23, 2023 – June 30, 2024

Position Location: Remote Work (involves travel for in-person meetings and events)


Reporting to the Healthy Campus Alberta Coordinator, the Community Engagement Assistant is responsible to support community engagement with the provincial community of practice, including performing a variety of administrative and logistics tasks to support events and community-building, as well as collecting and analyzing feedback data.

This position will work closely with the Healthy Campus Alberta team to assist in facilitating the life of the community of practice, including supporting events, webinars, and online engagement. This position includes managing the event and webinar data including survey results and notes, managing logistics for three Regional Gatherings and an online student peer leader gathering, and supporting opportunities for community engagement. In the process of these activities this position will liaise with multiple partners in the post-secondary, community, and government sectors.

Healthy Campus Alberta is a post-secondary community of practice comprised of students, post-secondary service providers, and community stakeholders who are dedicated to supporting post-secondary mental health on Alberta campuses. Healthy Campus Alberta aims to create an inclusive, collaborative, and community integrated approach to mental health and wellness across post-secondary institutions in Alberta. The community of practice achieves this through accessible and sustainable program ideas; sharing best practices and research; and fostering a culture of support and compassion for all post-secondary institutions across Alberta, all while recognizing their unique needs for success. The Healthy Campus Alberta staff team works to facilitate and support the life of the Community of Practice.

The location for this position is flexible. The Healthy Campus Alberta team works mostly remotely using various online platforms. Some travel may be required for in-person meetings and events. This position is part-time for 16-20 hours per week. Work times are flexible, however, to support team collaborations and accommodate meeting times, this position requires a minimum of 10-12 hours per week to be worked Monday to Thursday during the workday (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MT).

This position is offered through Healthy Campus Alberta, a named project under the Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Division.

Position duties will include the following:

Providing support to the HCA Coordinator in the collection and processing of webinar data (includes processing attendance and survey data, and taking notes during discussion groups)

Support the planning and logistics for three regional gatherings (two in-person and one online) including booking rooms, preparing facilitation materials, taking notes, synthesizing outputs, administering surveys, attending, and providing day-of support

Lead the planning and facilitation of an online student peer leader gathering

Compilation of community engagement and feedback data from multiple sources (e.g., event registration, feedback surveys, mailing list, webinar attendance, in-meeting polls, etc.)

Contribute to the creation of knowledge dissemination products and reports

Collaborate with other members of the Healthy Campus Alberta team to evaluate the effectiveness/sustainability of the events and tools and make recommendations for improvement

Active participation in the Healthy Campus Alberta team including attending orientation day, weekly meetings, events and interacting on the online team platform



Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess the following:

Interest in and understanding of post-secondary mental health

Current enrollment at a post-secondary institution in Alberta

Proven experience in facilitation and event planning

Strong administrative skills (data entry and processing, file management, note-taking and summarizing)

Experience in community engagement and relationship building (particularly engaging with post-secondary students, staff, and faculty)

Strong, relational communication skills, both verbal and written

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Office Business Essentials (Teams, SharePoint)

Experience with Survey Monkey and Canva, or similar tools an asset

Experience with videoconferencing / online event management software (Zoom) is an asset

Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize while working independently

Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Possesses tact and discretion and maintains confidentiality
