Post Content: As the premier furniture showcase of Edmonton Design Week
2024, Seamless Spaces explores the blending of the different
facets of our daily lives and the impact furniture has on our
perceptions of these environments.
The showcase will take place from October 1st to October 30th
at the beautiful and historical Pendennis building. Located in
the heart of downtown Edmonton, the Pendennis is a recently
renovated Heritage building and one of Edmonton’s premier event
spaces.
The event will coincide with Edmonton Design Week (EDW) from
October 15th - 20th, and host the official EDW Launch Party on
October 15th from 7 pm - 11 pm. This month-long showcase will
offer Student Participants exposure with organized tours for top
interior designers and buyers, provide the opportunity to connect
with trade partners, and gain media coverage. There will be a
monetary award (to be announced) for the best Student piece
shown.
Student application is open to all students in the province of
Alberta who are currently enrolled in a design, craft, or art
program or have graduated in the year 2024. Students may
submit images of up to three furniture or interior products (eg:
lighting, ceramics, rugs, etc.) for consideration by the Seamless
Spaces committee. Selected pieces will be displayed gallery style
in the Pendennis.
Entry is free for all Students! Student exhibitors pieces
will be displayed gallery style and will be beautifully
lit. They will also receive one free ticket to the launch
party. Costs for shipping and setup of displays are
the responsibility of student exhibitors. Ticket sales
will be coordinated by MADE with all revenue going
towards supporting the event costs and MADE’s annual
programming. Student exhibitors will be responsible for
administering their own merchandise sale and receive
100% of the revenue earned by pieces sold. MADE will
not take any commissions or sales fees.
MADE is a non-profit organization made up of
volunteers. The coming together and collaboration of
designers to advocate for creative disciplines as a whole
is the foundation of MADE. By creating more meaningful
connections, the design industry including furniture
companies, will benefit as a whole.
Seamless Spaces is the second formal furniture
exposition to be included as part of Edmonton Design
Week. There is an expectation that exhibitors will
collaborate and work together to create a memorable
experience that can be built on for years to come.
This includes a collective effort by all exhibitors to
promote the event through their networks and to their
contacts. For the month of October, Seamless Spaces
will act as a world-class showroom for the very best
design our province has to offer. Let’s show it off!
Exhibitors will be provided with a load-in and out
schedule and are expected to assist during setup and
take-down. At MADE, we strive to engage the public with design.
Become part of the process, help us shape the
conversation, and cultivate the future through creation.
If you are interested in exhibiting at Seamless Spaces,
please email images / renderings and dimensions of
the proposed furniture pieces to info@joinmade.org by
Wednesday, September 11th, 2024.
Participant vetting will be completed and successful
student applicants will be notified by September 20th.
The board of MADE will leverage their network and
general mailing list to draw in decision makers and
purchasers of fine furniture from Alberta and beyond.
Projected event attendance is 200 people for the launch
party with 1,500 total attendees over the course of the
30 day exhibit. Leads will be high value with anticipated
attendance of 80 + designers and representation from
five of Edmonton’s top commercial furniture dealerships.
Graphic design for the event will be provided by MADE.
The event will be included in the formal programming
of EDW 2024 and posted by MADE through their
socials and distributed to their mailing list of 600
design professionals. Coverage includes a feature in the
design issue of a major Edmonton publication (to be
announced) and a live spot on CTV news.
