Research looking into men’s experiences witnessing gender-based online abuse

Hello,

My name is Yimin Chen and I am a post-doctoral researcher at Royal Roads University. I’m conducting research about men’s experiences witnessing gender-based online abuse and the reasons why they may or may not intervene in such situations (funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada grant #936-2021-00275). As gender-based violence and abuse is an important issue to many post-secondary students, I was wondering if you would be able to assist us in recruiting participants for Zoom interviews to discuss this topic.

Our study seeks to:

1) understand how men view gender-based online abuse

2) collect stories from men about times when they have witnessed gender-based online abuse happen to other people

3) identify the reasons why men choose to intervene or not when they witness gender-based online abuse

We would like to conduct individual interviews with men between ages 18-30 who have witnessed gender-based online abuse. If you are able to assist us with participant recruitment, we would like you to direct people to our pre-screening survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/RX6PNP9
