GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1979, Korite is the world’s largest supplier of high quality Ammolite, a unique and colourful gemstone found in Southern Alberta. Korite has several lines of business including loose stones, jewellery, watches and home décor that contribute to its multi-million dollar portfolio. Historically, Korite has focused on Business To Business sales and is now shifting its focus to building a strong Direct to Consumer brand under new leadership.

This contract position will report directly to the Merchandise Manager and will be responsible for the development of several jewellery designs that meet the tastes and preferences of our North American consumers. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Is aware of most recent industry and design trends, and the competitive landscape of the north American jewellery industry
• Studies, designs and prepares innovative jewellery ideas using sketches and technically sound drawings that are aligned to KORITE brand/design guidelines
• Reviews and corrects products based on client feedback and for technical accuracy from first prototype to end for client approval
• Designs silver, gold or vermeil jewellery based on the direction of the merchandise manager and the assortment plan provided outlining categories and price points
• Researches and identifies new jewellery trends and creates moodboards for KORITE team to choose from in developing new jewellery collections
• Understands what has worked historically for KORITE for each sales channel and seeks guidance and information to best design for the KORITE consumer
• Provides all technical drawings and CADs within the agreed upon workback schedule/timeline
• Works closely with Marketing to develop product names and a story line behind every collection
• Work closely with the Merchandise Manager and Product Development consultant to ensure the suppliers have everything they need to produce the new collection


EDUCATION & TRAINING
• Degree or Diploma in Fashion or Jewellery Design or a related field

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3-5 years experience in jewellery design for a North American brand
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD)

SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Proficient in CAD and technical drawings
• Understanding of the jewellery industry
• Able to work independently, motivated self-starter
• Strong design aesthetic and merchandising skills
