About CARFAC

Canadian Artists’ Representation / Le Front des artistes canadiens (CARFAC) is the national professional membership association for visual artists. We represent professional artists of all ages and stages of their artistic careers, living from coast to coast to coast. We believe that artists, like professionals in other fields, should be paid fairly for their work. We educate the visual arts community about artists’ economic and legal rights, and we offer professional development opportunities through conferences, workshops, and publications. CARFAC strives to be an inclusive and safe space for all, and to accurately reflect the diversity of the artist communities that we serve.

Project Brief:

CARFAC has engaged in a research and community engagement initiative to create an Indigenous Intellectual and Cultural Property Toolkit for the visual arts sector. The Toolkit includes guidelines for respectful protocols around the use and protection of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis visual art and cultural material.

The project is led by an Advisory Circle of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists, and a draft toolkit has been developed. This winter we will organize a series of public engagement webinar meetings, where the materials will be reviewed by Indigenous artist communities, and made available online.

We are looking to hire a motivated and energetic Online Content Coordinator to provide support for this initiative. Indigenous candidates are encouraged to self-identify as such when submitting an application.

We are looking for applicants who:

- have strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- are able to manage competing priorities;
- work well independently and with a small team;
- have strong communication skills;
- are able to learn new software quickly; and
- are familiar with social media and other digital technologies in a professional environment.

Job Description

The Online Content Coordinator will be responsible for web development tasks, including:

– uploading, updating, and monitoring content on the project website. This includes creating and implementing a site content plan that will clearly communicate the project goals and content to artists and other audiences;
– optimizing and improving website performance and effectiveness to ensure it is user-friendly and contains accurate, up-to-date information; and
– monitoring web analytics and site performance, and making recommendations for improvements and modifications.

Other responsibilities related to digital engagement, include:

- working with the Project Manager on promotion and presentation of webinar sessions, and driving traffic to the project website through all social media channels.

The ideal candidate will have education and experience in the arts, communications, marketing, or web design or a related industry equivalent. Experience with Webflow websites is helpful, but not required. The Online Engagement Coordinator will have excellent project management skills, and work as a self-starter. Fluency in more than one language is an asset, but not required.

* This position is designed to help youth enhance and develop digital skills, including digital marketing and design, data analytics and visualization, basic web development, and digital project management. Training and support will be provided by the Project Manager, Web Designer, and other CARFAC staff.

To apply, please send a resume and expression of interest by email by December 9th to April Britski: director@carfac.ca. We thank all candidates for your interest. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
