SA Technician

Reporting to the Programs Manager, the SA Technician is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of artwork handling, installation and display are carried out in an efficient and professional manner to support the operations of the Marion Nicoll Gallery, Hear/d Residency, and Show + Sale.

Employment Type: Part-time, hourly wage (approx. 10 hours per week; workload will ebb and flow depending on programming requirements; increased workload in November for Show + Sale) Contract Length: October 2022 – May 2023 Hourly Pay Range: $15 - $18 per hour depending on experience

Core Objectives

· Support the Marion Nicoll Gallery in biweekly installs and de-installs of the Main Space and LRT Space from October 2022 – April 2023

· Support Show + Sale inventory management, and the install, rotation, and de-install of inventory in November 2022

· Support the HEAR/D Residency in its exhibition layout, install and de-install in early April 2023

· Prepare various spaces for exhibition, including moving and levelling plinths and walls, spackling and painting

· Perform work to various degrees of specialization in the areas of art handling and movement, mount making, and installing two and three-dimensional work

· Assist in the installation of digital media, multimedia and electronics

· Help maintain tools, equipment, and storage spaces

· Assist in exhibition lighting design

Qualifications and Skills

· Previous experience with Show + Sale or volunteer management considered an asset

· Time management and ability to balance multiple priorities

· Ability to take initiative in coordinating and carrying out assigned projects

· Strong verbal and written communication skills to work collaboratively with the Show + Sale team, Show + Sale students, and the general public

· Ability to work equitably with all students and provide support as and when required

· Working knowledge of Microsoft suite and one or more volunteer management software
