Are you a 3rd/4th year Photography major looking for an industry standard paid opportunity that will help you build your portfolio and connect you with the AUArts community? Then come join our SA Photo Doc Services Team for the Winter 2022 semester!

This academic year, the SA in conjunction is excited to introduce brand new Photography Services for our programming, including but not limited to Show + Sale, the MNG, and the Hear/d Residency.

We are looking for a core team of 3-5 photographers to join us for Winter 2022 and undertake these various shoots through the semester. The Team will be expected to shoot a variety of assignments, including studio product documentation, environmental documentation and portraiture. Assignments will be given based on experience, availability and personal shooting style. All photographers will be given mentorship and direction by the programming team to help grow their skills. The SA will also give credit to photographers in print and digital photo usage whenever possible and will educate all participating Artists on CAPIC copyright and licensing recommendations.

General Responsibilities:

· Provide high quality images for every assigned shoot while working solo or as a team

· Attend onboarding, briefing, and debriefing meetings as a team throughout the semester

· Complete assignments with professionalism from start to finish

· Sign contracts regarding copyright and licensing with the SA
· Provide industry standard JPG files to both the SA programming team and the Artists in a timely manner
· Meet deadlines given by the programming team

· Collaborate on an overall vision with larger assignments

Available Assignments:

· Exhibition documentation for the Marion Nicoll Gallery (Feb-May)

o Document a variety of physical exhibitions and installations at the on-site MNG locations prior to gallery openings

o Deliver images to the MNG and to the respective Artists

o There are multiple shoot dates during the semester so the SA may select more than 1 photographer for this assignment
o Industry standard fee of $150 will given for up to 4 hours of work including shooting and editing for a single exhibition. The fee for complex exhibitions may be increased based on the skills and equipment required to document it

· Show + Sale Daily Hive Lifestyle Shoot Assistant (Feb 25-26)

o The Assistant will collaborate with the S+S Coordinator to develop a branded lifestyle shoot with art products for a Daily Hive article and the online shop
o The Assistant will act as a second shooter for the duration of the shoot

o Interested photographers must have an interest in lifestyle and portraiture shoots

o This position requires off-campus travel within city limits

o Industry standard fee of $150 will given for up to 4 hours of work including shooting and editing.

· Hear/d Residency Portrait Photoshoot (TBD)

o Work as a team to provide creative portraits of Hear/d Residency artists based on client brief

o Potential for in-studio or on location shooting

o Lighting setup is at discretion of photographers

o Lead Photographer will be paid $150 for up to 4 hours of work, including shooting and editing.

o Assistant will be paid $75 for up to 4 hours of work assisting the Lead Photographer with setup, shooting, and editing.

· Subsidized Photo Doc Days (March 18-20)

o Work as a team to provide 255 “background to white” 2D, 3D, and wearable artwork documentation for S+S Artists and AUArts students

o Photographers must demonstrate experience with studio strobe lighting to be considered

o Photographers must also have access to and training with AUArts photo equipment

o “Background to white” experience is an asset, but we will train!
o Photographers will also be responsible for providing staff and Artist headshots during one of the shoot dates
o All lighting and backdrop equipment will be provided

o Deliver images to the S+S team and respective Artists with a tight turnaround
o Shoot dates to be determined based on student demand

o The 2 Photographers will be given $300/8 hour shooting day each

o The 2 Editors will be given $300/8 hour editing period each

Qualifications:

· Have own camera, lenses, computer, and Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop

· Experience with studio and/or environmental photography

· Intermediate lighting skills

· Have excellent editing and file management workflows

· Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to situations

· Ability to take initiative for coordinating and carrying out assigned shoots

· Self-motivated individual who can effectively prioritize
